Sharon will be speaking on the art of raising children in today's world.  In addition, daily she will weave into the Summit many of the practices she's learned through the years for listening to children, the JOY of nature for increased vitality, the art of daily qigong for balancing the emotions & the importance of being deeply connected to one's self as a parent, so you can easily be guided as to what to do and how to handle the daily situations that arise.

HOW TO LISTEN SO YOUR KIDS WILL LISTEN

Knowing what you want to say to your child is one thing. Saying it in a way they can actually hear is another.

Ashley Radzat will help parents and caregivers understand what hinders communication and learn practical ways to foster greater cooperation, connection, and mutual respect. Participants will explore how to listen without immediately fixing, respond to strong emotions without escalating them, set clear boundaries without relying on shame or threats, and communicate expectations in ways that make children more likely to participate.   Ashley's work is about developing a more effective way of communicating that protects both the relationship and the parent’s leadership. Participants will leave with practical tools, and a clearer understanding of how small changes in communication can create meaningful changes throughout family life.

QIGONG ROUND THE WORLD: BEING, BECOMING, BELONGING--QIFUL PERSPECTIVES FOR CHILDREN 

PANEL DISCUSSION:  Siu-ling Bisogno Hau and Nancy Havera, Spring Forest Qigong Certified Healers and Instructors, and Spring Forest Qigong Master Jerry Wellik will demonstrate excerpts from their hand book "Qigong Round the World: Qiful Perspectives for Children."  The children of the world hold the future in their hands, minds, and hearts.  It is up to the elders to offer tools and perspectives in order for the children to follow the path of healthy and positive lives. The presenters will show specific examples of these possibilities in relation to the practice and philosophy of Spring Forest Qigong.

Once upon a time there was Schoolhouse Earth, and we came as curious children. We forgot, for a while, that God is not somewhere else. God is here: the taste in water, the warmth in sun, the laughter in the room. Our task is to grow still enough to remember.  Be still and know. Our children do!

FROM JUDGMENT TO CONNECTION: A LANGUAGE OF HOPE FOR FAMILIES 

Family judgments such as “selfish,” “lazy,” or “controlling” often conceal important human needs. Catherine Cooley shares a practical process for translating blame into clarity, empathy, and constructive requests. Participants will learn how to preserve accountability while creating stronger connection, healthier conflict, and a more compassionate emotional inheritance for children. 

STAR CHILDREN:  A STORY FOR PEACE, UNITY & CONFLICT RESOLUTUION  

In October 2019, while hiking alone among the ancient cliff dwellings in Northwest New Mexico, Katherine Hitchcock had an immediate experience of the future coming toward us. YOUR CHILD IS NOT THE ONLY CHILD IN THE ROOM:  

Why difficult behaviour makes more sense than it looks.  

The talk will help parents get curious enough to see the parts in their child as well as in themselves, the vital lesson I would have liked when my children were younger!  Art therapist Clare Dash introduces the transformative insight at the heart of Parts Work: that self-compassion doesn't come from fixing or silencing our difficult inner experiences, it comes from getting to know the protective parts that are just doing their best to keep you safe. You'll leave with a felt sense of what it means to turn toward yourself with curiosity rather than criticism, and a simple practice you can use any time to come back to yourself.

Music has long been a treasured part of childhood, from soothing lullabies for infants to playful songs and nursery rhymes that spark joy and engagement. Beyond entertainment, music plays a vital role in early childhood development. Research shows that exposure to music and opportunities for musical exploration support brain development by strengthening cognitive, emotional, social, and language skills. Incorporating music into everyday routines provides young children with meaningful learning experiences that foster creativity, communication, and overall growth.  This presentation explores the powerful impact of music on developing minds and highlights the many benefits of making music a regular part of children's lives. It will also explore how creating calmer environments, using melodic mantras, curating intentional playlists, and engaging in music-making can be powerful tools for supporting emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, mindfulness, and a sense of connection in young children.

During this interview Jenny will share her philosophy about "Rewilding Children".  What does that mean for children?  What does that mean for the parents?  What does that mean for our world...our future?

HELP YOUR CHILDREN MAINTAIN THEIR NATURAL HEALTHY POSTURE 

Children in industrialized parts of the world are increasingly losing the natural alignment that is their birthright, the healthy posture that we see in less industrialized cultures. In modern cultures, it is usually lost after age 3. I’ll share characteristics of natural Balanced posture as well as the perils of modern posture. You can learn from the children around you, and you can also model healthy posture for your children, while relieving back and joint pain.

MUSIC & WRITING:  THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT ALL 

Gail will discuss life events that inspired some of her songs, and how the creative process works for her.  She will also discuss how her book, “Ranger’s Big Adventure”, came to be. She hopes that parents will encourage their children to appreciate the simple things in life, along with participating in shared experiences with their children as early childhood experiences can lead to positive life-long behaviors.
