 MONDAY:

 LIVING LIFE PURPOSEFULLY

IN THE FIELD OF POTENTIAL AND POSSIBILITY!

We have the Power of Choice to live

life aligned with our values.

Even when the outer world is distractive.

Use your creative human powers to choose the

direction you are guided to go.

THE POWER OF FOCUS

THE POWER OF CHOICE

THE POWER OF ACTION

THE POWER OF NON-ACTION

THE POWER OF ATTENTION

THE POWER OF GRATITUDE

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

TUESDAY:

One of the choices we have is "listen" and see if

we are called to serve MOTHER EARTH at this time.

Is there something you are being called to do at this time on the Planet?

LISTEN...and honor your Inner Voice!

THURSDAY:

DEEPENING INTO THE TRUTH OF YOU

I invite you to sit in silence and enquire:

I AM a SPARK of the DIVINE....

What is the significance of this?

FRIDAY:

OPENING TO THE MATURITY OF THE HEART

As we mature in our  in divine qualities we are able to

"hold" more of the chaos that arises.

What are you being called to hold at this time?

What divine qualities would support you in this?

perhaps more...

COMPASSION

LOVE

FORGIVENESS

GRATITUDE

STRENGTH

GENEROSITY

GOODNESS

PERSEVERANCE

WISDOM

SATURDAY:

DIFFERENT LEVELS OF EMOTIONS

Karla McLaren, author of The Language of Emotions

lists three levels of emotions.  They are soft, medium, or intense.

For example under Shame/Guilt her listing would be as follows:

SOFT:  Discomfited / flustered / speechless

MEDIUM:  ashamed / embarrassed / sheepish

INTENSE:  Humiliated / self-condemning / belittled

Perhaps this way of looking at emotions may be helpful

in seeing where your intensity level is at any one time.

SUNDAY:

THE ART OF TRANSFORMATION

As one learns to meet all that arises and to "be with" the emotions and to feel them in the body with depth and sincerity, giving them an opportunity to be seen, the opportunity is for them to dissipate.

MONDAY:

RE-ALIGNING AFTER A RETREAT

Following a retreat or a time where you have spent considerable time going within,  aligning to the Truth you want to bring into your life is extremely important.

Following are some self-enquiry questions you may want to ask yourself:

 * How can I create a life-style that will support this new way of being?

* What is the spiritual practice I want to have in my daily life?

* What are three divine attributes I want to bring into my life?

 BALANCING CHILDREN WATCHING

TELEVISION vs CREATIVE PLAY

Children who consistently spend more than 4 hours per day watching TV are more likely to be overweight.

Kids who view violent acts on TV are more likely to show aggressive behavior, and to hear that the world is scary and that something bad will happen to them.

Teens who play violent video games and apps are more likely to be aggressive.

Characters on TV and in video games often depict risky behaviors, such as smoking and drinking, and also reinforce gender-role and racial stereotypes.

CREATIVE ACTIVITIES

FOR CHILDREN

building blocks

play doe

drawing pictures

help cook a meal

plan a picnic

build a "tent" house with a sheet

over a table to chairs

garden

go to the park

learn to play an instrument

** But even more important, LISTEN to your child

and what he/she would like to do!

Building on  a child's ideas is so empowering to them.

It gives them:

CONFIDENCE

ENCOURAGEMENT

ABILITY TO BE SELF-DIRECTING

INDEPENDENCE

THE ART OF TEACHING CHILDREN ABOUT PEACE...

STEP BY STEP

STEP ONE:  STOP!

Take time out! Breathe...and do nothing.  Get a cup of tea and sit down and enjoy!

STEP TWO:  LOOK!

Look around at your home environment and take inventory.  Is it orderly? Is it inviting to children?

STEP THREE:  LISTEN!

Listen to the conversations amongst your children and/or their playmates.  Listen to yourself responding to them.  Just listen!

STEP FOUR:  WATCH!

Watch what your children are doing.  How do they play with each other or alone? Be the "watchful observer"!

STEP FIVE:  WRITE!

Write down what you are seeing and hearing. Be objective and non-judgmental!

STEP SIX:  EDUCATIONAL!

Educate your children about PEACE.  Find a book or CD about peace.

Invite an open conversation!  Have fun!

STEP SEVEN:  DECIDE!

Make a decision that your home will be a home of PEACE!

STEP EIGHT: ADDRESS!

Address every unpeaceful communication and action that is not peaceful.

STEP NINE:  COOOPERATION!

Acknowledge cooperation.  When you see your children are cooperating, acknowledge them for that action.

STEP TEN: VALUE!

Value all of life.  Show appreciation and respect for all of life...ants, spiders, all of nature and all people....the homeless, the elderly and those with special needs.

STEP ELEVEN:  SILENCE!

Encourage times of silence and stillness.   Everyone needs to have time alone in silence and stillness.

STEP TWELVE:  SERVE!

Find ways to reach out and help others.  Volunteer with your children at a animal shelter or visit a retirement home.

YOU have the POWER to choose YOUR ACTIONS and

NON-ACTIONS!

I have the POWER to choose MY ACTIONS and NON-ACTIONS!

THE ART OF MAKING A DECISION

When you have an important decision to make,

what is the process you go through to make that decision?

Have you ever thought about HOW you make a decision?

Do you make it quickly?

Do you ponder over it for a long time?

Do you listen to your inner self?

Do you ask your friends to make the decision for you?

Do you like to get agreement about your decision, and then

feel confidence that it is the right decision?

All of these are ways that might enter into the decision making process.

Do you make a decision in a different way?

DIVINE AND UNDIVINE INFLUENCES

re: THE ART OF MAKING A DECISION

Seeing that this week I discussed divine and undivine attributes we all have, I just realized that there can also be "undivine" influences wittingly or unwittingly affect us during the process of making a decision.

One such influence can be from the influence of the media on us.

Sometimes, we do realize the influence it has on us when we see that 50% of the products we purchase, we heard about on the television.

And at other times  the television may have an effect on us that we don't even realize.  For example, if we watch a certain television program on a regular basis and then realize that if our favorite character is having a good day, we have a  good day.  And if they have a bad day, we end up having a bad day.  This happened to me when I was in my 30's!  I was SO surprised to see this!  That was the day I stopped watching the soap operas that my family introduced me to when I was 10 years of age!

And years later, I decided I did not want the influence of the media on me, so decided to no longer own a television set.

That was now 21 years ago.

A DIVINE INFLUENCE ON  US...

Regarding a divine influence on us, let's consider our relationships with our "inner self".   Do you sit in the silence and stillness and tune in to             your inner self, when having to make a decision?

This is one way, to acknowledge what the inner YOU feels about a situation.

As I write this BLOG, I'm naturally tuning into my inner self (it can't help but listen as I write!) :)

And I'm realizing how deeply I've allowed some outside influences to

affect my day today. I'm amazed at how subtle they were...

and how from a simple email, I could have a certain thread of thoughts.

Presently, this time on the planet is so powerful! The incoming energies are SO strong, we can easily go toward the light...or toward the dark.

As we tune into the PRESENT MOMENT...

and BECOME AWARE OF OUR INNER DIALOGUE...

we can become conscious of its thoughts and consciously decide if we are going to take those thoughts in and ACT on them or not.

YOU have the POWER to choose YOUR ACTIONS and

NON-ACTIONS!

I have the POWER to choose MY ACTIONS and NON-ACTIONS!

MONDAY, TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY: JANUARY 11, 12 & 13, 2021

DIVINE ATTRIBUTES

Divine Attributes are those qualities of goodness or positive one might express in his/ her daily life.

The two I felt that are being expressed in this image are:

PATIENCE and COOPERATION!

How lovely it is that 5 children could be sitting together

doing a puzzle...with some active and some just looking on

what appears to be in a very patient manner.

When we reflect on the way we act, we can learn more about the way we act and make conscious choices for future actions or non-actions.

Additional divine attributes are as follows:

SELF-CONTROL

PEACEFULNESS

COMPASSION

GENTLENESS

FORGIVENESS

VIGOR

AUSTERITY

Is there one of these that you would like to bring into your

life in a greater way?

UNDIVINE ATTRIBUTES

The undivine attributes are those that are not of a positive nature and as human being we often want to release from our way of being.

Some of these undivine attributes are:

FEAR

VIOLENCE

FICKLENESS

HATRED

ANGER

MALICE

ARROGANCE

PRIDE

Do you have one undivine attribute that you would like to

release from your way of being?

LIVING A CONSCIOUS LIFE

When we live a conscious life, we become aware of the way we act and reflect on ways of improving the way we live.  We become aware of our effectiveness or ineffectiveness and work at improving  our skills.

It is important as we live consciously, to be compassionate with our self, knowing that we are a work in progress and not to expect perfection.  And at the same time, not to ignore attributes to thrive for and others to release.

What are 3 divine attributes you'd like to develop in the new year?

What are 3 undivine attributes you'd like to release during this new year?

YOU have the POWER to choose YOUR ACTIONS and

NON-ACTIONS!

TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT

THE VALUE OF PEACE

If you decide it is important to you for your family

to practice PEACE in all your interactions, I say

congratulations!  I feel it's one of the most important decisions we can make as parents.

Following are some points to consider as you take this

into the realm of a Living Experience!

1.  Call a family meeting to discuss if your children are four and older.

2.  Discuss the ways your family already interacts that that

are peaceful.

3.  Perhaps list worlds or sayings that exhibit peaceful conversations.

4.  Discuss ways your family already is acting in a peaceful manner with each other.

5.  If you children are rather mature, you might have fun acting out "peaceful" interactions.

6.  Tell them that you will engage in conversation with them if you need to about a situation if you feel it's not peaceful.

7.  Create a fun way of acknowledging each other when

a peaceful conversation and/or action has taken place.

Perhaps I thumbs up or a heart sign made with the hands could be used.

THE POWER OF REFLECTIVE PARENTING

If you observe that your parenting ways needs to be shifted,

simply step back and reflect on the way you are parentings now.

What is working?

What is not working?

What direction do you want to go in?

What is most important to you at this time?

Do you need to apologize to your child for something?

(This can be a very powerful experience!)

What is your very next step?

What do you want to happen long-term?

As I've discussed in past radio programs and blogs....

YOU have the POWER to choose YOUR ACTIONS and

NON-ACTIONS!

THURSDAY & FRIDAY:  JANUARY 6 & 7,  2021

THE POWER OF NON-ACTION

During the course of a day, we have many opportunities for action as well as non-action.

What makes the difference?

DISCRIMINATION

Discrimination is the power of making fine distinctions!

This forest exists because someone said YES to keeping it in it's natural condition, and perhaps NO, to cutting it down.

Some forms of NON-ACTION could be:

Not drinking and driving

Not yelling

Not spanking a child

Not saying something

Not eating a candy bar

Not getting angry

Not saying I love you

Not leaving a relationship

THE POWER OF ACTION

Likewise, taking action can be very powerful also.

Discrimination is the key.  What do you want to say YES to.

What do you want to say NO to.

Some forms of ACTION could be:

Meditating

Writing an article

Calling a friend

Saying I love you

Attending a meeting

Eating a salad

Giving a gift

YOU have the POWER to choose YOUR ACTIONS and

NON-ACTIONS!

WHAT CAN YOU DO IF LIFE IS

CHALLENGING AND STRESS-FILLED?

RUN!

SWIM!

PAINT!

DANCE!

TALK TO A TRUSTED FRIEND!

Find a way to handle stress, anger, frustration...

THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU!

YOU are a spark of Divinity!

YOU are a spark of the LIFE FORCE!

YOU are unique!

YOU make a difference!

*P*E*A*C*E*

As each person finds their center of PEACE and finds ways

of peaceful action, we'll create a peaceful world.

P= PRESENCE:  Being here in the NOW!

E=EMPATHY:  Understanding the emotional make-up for others!

A= AFFINITY:  Can you find a way to be in affinity with others in your world AND to put your attention on matters that are important and address  them fully?

C= COURAGE:  Do you have the courage, the confidence, and clarity to have a calm conversation with others to discuss life matters?

E= EQUANIMITY:  Being emotionally and mentally stable and composed even under strain and tension.

WHAT DO CHILDREN NEED

DURING CHALLENGING TIMES?

In the book, The Power of Showing Up, authors, Daniel Siegel and Tina Bryson, state that children need to feel the four S's:

SAFE:  Giving children a safe harbor.

SEEN: We pay attention to her emotions--both negative and positive.

SOOTHED:  This is about teaching your child how to cope when life gets hard and showing her that you'll be there with her along the way.

SECURE:  When your child know she can count on you to show in the time of need, time after time,  she will trust in  a feeling of secure attachment and thrive.

PART II

The book scary news by Lorna Ann Knox, offers ways to raise joyful children when the headlines are full of fear.

Three of her suggestions are as follows:

Pray with your children.

Turn off the radio in your car when children are present.

Listen to your inner guidance.

The Voice of Change on Saturday, January 2, went into more details about these suggestions.

LIVING FULLY ALIVE!

LIVING FULLY AWAKE!

LIVING FULLY AWARE!

What would it look like if you were to live...

FULLY ALIVE!

FULLY AWAKE!

FULLY AWARE!

As I reflect on this, I believe it calls for breaking

out of the BOX we may find our self in!

It is not anyone's fault... not yours, not your parents,

not your friends... that we may find our self

in a BOX!

Are you in a box now of....

limitation!

fear!

restriction!

contraction!

smallness!

Pretend NOW...to come out of your invisible box!

MOVE!

BREAK FREE!

JUMP UP AND OUT!

What does it feel like NOW?

FREEDOM TO BE!

SPACIOUSNESS!

OPENNESS!

WIDENESS!

WILDNESS!

GRANDEUR!

CONNECTION TO ALL!

A few weeks ago I played with these ideas after

a meditation, and I truly felt different!

When we are living on the open playground...

of life...

without restriction....

we have the capacity to

FEEL!

BE!

EXPERIMENT!

GROW!

EXPERIENCE!

BE VULNERABLE!

EXPLORE!

CRY!

LAUGH!

And in this space, we are more available to be with

ALL of life...

the good..

the difficult...

the ugly!

Let us all break free of the box we find our self in

and be free... truly free to experience all of life in 2021!

SEEING and LIVING in the FIELD of DUALITY

AND

SEEING and LIVING in the FIELD of ONENESS

We can compare duality to ice cream1  There are two flavors!

And thus two choices!

This is the consciousness we've all been a part of since we were born.

We often see two choices are possible.  Thus we choose this one or that one!

With the emergence of higher energies on the planet many are moving in the field of Oneness.

And if this is compared to Ice Cream, there might be numerous ice cream cones each blended with two or more flavors.  And then a person making the choice of which ice cream cone to choose, she would just

naturally be drawn to one of the cones.

A languaging for this might be:

I FEEL!

I KNOW!

I ACT!

LIVING PRINCIPLES:  HONORING ALL FORMS OF LIFE

Over one million seabirds are killed by ocean pollution each year.

Three hundred thousand dolphins and porpoises die each year as a result of becoming entangled in discarded fishing nets, among other items.

One hundred thousand sea mammals are killed in the ocean by pollution each year.

QUESTION:  Is there anything you can do today to honor /respect some form of life?

LIVING PRINCIPLES:  CULTIVATING RIGHT RELATIONSHIPS

As I was preparing for this BLOG and radio program, the 7 Principles of Kwanzaa came to my attention.  I felt these are beautiful examples of Right Relationships so wanted to share them with you today.

1.  Unity: To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.

2.  Self-Determination:  To define and name ourselves, as well as to create and speak for ourselves.

3.  Collective Work & Responsibility:  To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems and to solve them together.

4.  Cooperative economics:  To build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together.

5.  Purpose:  To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.

6.   Creativity:  To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

7.  Faith:  To believe with all our hearts in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

LIVING PRINCIPLES:  MINDFUL CONSUMPTION & MINDFUL COMPASSION

The Dalai Lama stated that he feels

"WE NEED A REVOLUTION OF COMPASSION".

In the Lion's Roar magazine for January of 2021, it states that the Dalai Lama calls on us to make this a century of compassion for the planet and all its inhabitants.

In reflecting on these Living Principles, how can you be compassionate with yourself as you live them?

Could you perhaps BLESS your self for your past actions

and begin again?

Or perhaps you could FORGIVE yourself of not seeing the best in another, and then begin again?

Or perhaps you could acknowledge yourself for your success in these areas?

LIVING PRINCIPLES:  HONORING & EMPOWERING OUR CHILDREN

What do children need from parents and significant people in their lives?

INFANTS:  LOVE, AFFECTION, ATTENTION

TODDLERS:  FREEDOM, ENCOURAGEMENT, RESPECT

PRESCHOOLERS:  DESERVING, EXPLORING, APPROVING

PRIMARY SCHOOL:  GIVING, SHARING, NON-JUDGMENT, ACCEPTANCE, TRUTH

LIVING PRINCIPLES:  MINDFUL CONSUMPTION &   MINDFUL COMPASSION

Let's consider the word "consumption" in its broadest

terms!

Of all the Mindful Practices/ Trainings Thich Nhat Hanh mentions is his book, "For A Future To Be Possible",  this Practice surprised me the most. He refers to it as a "Diet for a Mindful Society".

And yet once I thought about it his ideas  they made perfect sense.

Some of the things he included in this Training and

suggested we be mindful about are as follows:

FOOD

ALCOHOL

TV PROGRAMS

MAGAZINES

BOOKS

FILMS

CONVERSATIONS

Have you ever considered that some TV Programs may be toxic?

Perhaps some books? magazines? films?

As we consciously become more mindful and allow our self to be very compassionate toward our self, I do believe more will be revealed to us as to what is appropriate and what is not.

Although I do believe we are being called to deeply look at our values and see if what we once thought was our highest values, are they true for us now?

And yet we must truly be LOVING, COMPASSIONATE AND GENTLE with our self.

CHANGE  takes time!

Is there some aspect of one of these that you'd like to exclude from your life?

As this year comes to an end, and the New one begins, this is a perfect time to make such changes.

They seem to be so connected that the resulting image of their relationship is a unique HEART!

And they appear to be speaking in their own language to each other!

LIVING PRINCIPLES:  SINCERE LISTENING & KIND SPEAKING

I so appreciate and honor this living principle! For decades my work has been the art of listening to children.

Listening to each other is also SO important.  With so many different ideas about what is needed in the world right now, I do believe that listening to each other is crucial.

Even if we have a different perspective than another on an issue, can we still come from a place of sincere listening and kind speech?

I do believe we can.

Under this living principle, transparency, telling the truth, speaking in a way their empowers others and resolving mis-understandings and disputes are important.

LIVING PRINCIPLES:  PRACTICING LOVING-KINDNESS

The practice of loving -kindness is the next Living Principle I'm suggesting we consider.

What does it mean to you to practice Loving Kindness?

Tonight  I went to watch a movie and within the first 10 minutes of the film, I was introduced to the killing of an elephant by poachers for its tusks! And I thought, how appropriate the Universe would bring such a film into my awareness.  (I'm experiencing many synchronistic happenings right now!)

It was a beautiful film showing how natives work with outside organizations to care for the babies who lose their mother to such poachers.  They raise the babies and then return them to the wild when they are old enough to care for themselves.

At the end of the film it said that the elephant populations had been reduced by 62% in this last decade!

If we, as a species, adopted the Practice of Loving - Kindness,

such poaching would not be an issue!

If we, as a species, adopted the Practice of Honoring All of Life, such poaching would not be an issue!

When are we going to learn to honor all life?

What needs to happen for all this to change?

Let us ...

See with New Eyes...

Ear with New Ears...

Feel with an Open Heart...

Think with a Clear Awareness... and

Act with a New Understanding!

Last week, I awakened with the image of a caged monkey vividly in my mind.  She was sitting in a very small cage and just looking at me.  I felt it was representing MANY monkeys who were caged and not able to be free.

In the next moment I recalled a book by Thich Nhat Hanh entitled, For A Future To Be Possible, and how it stressed the importance of the honoring of ALL life!

As I reflected on his teaching, I asked myself some questions:

What are the guidelines for the way to treat animals?

Is it appropriate for them to be caged for any reason?

Do the Universal Principles we've been discussing led us to the answer?

Do we gain karma when we restrict, injury or kill living creatures?

If the monkey could speak, what might she say?

As we move into the  Aquarian Age, as we've been talking about

on the past shows, we are being called  to live life with the greatest VALUES we know.

This is the TIME to reflect on these deep and basic questions.

SPANKINGS ARE NOT THE SOLUTION!

"Corporal punishment of children actually interferes with the process of learning and with their optimal development as socially responsible adults. We feel that it is important for public health workers, teachers and others concerned for the emotional and physical health of children and youth to support the adoption of alternative methods for the achievement of self-control and responsible behavior in children and adolescents."

Dr. Daniel F. Whiteside, former Assistant Surgeon General

Research shows that children who are hit have lower self-esteem then children who are not hit. There is even some evidence from a British study that children who are hit may be less able to learn because physical punishments reduce children's IQ.  Being hit triggers the fight or flight response in human beings. When we are hit, our rational thinking shuts down. All we can think about is hitting back or running away to protect ourselves.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST GIFT YOU CAN GIVE YOUR CHILD?

"The gift every child really wants money can't buy. The "something more" children are looking for is the GIFT of feeling connected, loved and valued.

PART I:  CREATING A NEW WAY OF LIVING

As we come to the end of a 25,000 year cycle,

and the "old" ways and structures are breaking

up before our eyes,

LET US KNOW

that we have the opportunity before us

for planting the seeds for the

NEW CYCLE...

Can you learn to hold such a possibility?

And it all begins with EACH one of us!

Together we are co-creating life!

The planet can only be as peaceful as EACH person is peaceful!

The planet can only be as loving as EACH person is loving!

I invite you to ask yourself...

HOW CAN I ACT IN MORE PEACEFUL WAYS TODAY?

HOW CAN I ACT IN MORE LOVING WAYS TODAY?

As we shift just one little thing in our life...

everything shifts!

PART II:  ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO BE A

"VOICE OF CHANGE?"

More and more people are waking up everyday!

The energies coming to the planet right now

are supporting people is letting go of the old ways....

and inspiring them to be part of the solution...

a NEW WAY OF LIVING...

that aligns with the Universal Laws

we've been speaking up as well

as the

HUMAN POWERS

such as

THE POWER TO CREATE!

THE POWER OF ACTION!

THE POWER OF NON-ACTION!

THE POWER OF FOCUS

THE POWER OF ATTENTION

Once you recognize a possibility for a

significant change in the our world, and hold

such a possibility,

you are a voice of change!

UNDERSTANDING OUR WORLD IN TERMS OF 3D, 4D & 5D

CONSCIOUSNESS

PART I:  3 D or FIFTH DIMENSION CONSCIOUSNESS

Some circles are looking at all that is happening in the world presently in terms of 3D, 4D and 5D  consciousness.  It can be helpful and supportive to understand.

Before I share with you some of the characteristics of 3D consciousness, I want to say a couple of things.  When we talk about consciousness and/or dimensions, we are not talking about different places but rather a "state" of consciousness.

We are most familiar with the 3D state of consciousness because that is what we have been living with all of our lives.  Following are some of the characteristics:

We see things as good and bad, right or wrong (two forces)

Love is based on conditions

The "mind" rules

Manifestation is slow

You may  feel separate from others

If you "see" something, it is real

You may feel you are a victim

You experience fear, chaos and /or unfairness

PART 2:  4D or FOURTH DIMENSION CONSCIOUSNESS

4D is the transition between 3D and 5D. Following are some of the ways it may manifest:

You have periods of time when you feel great love, well-being and greater freedom

You may feel a deeper appreciation for your life, your situation and those in your life at times

You may have glimpses of instant manifestation

You may experience times when you are very intuitive

You may experience times when you receive "new" information (downloads)

As you continue forward, these experiences will increase until you come into 5D consciousness and your experience will become more stable and dependable.

PART 3:  5D or FIFTH DIMENSION CONSCIOUSNESS

Love is unconditional

The heart rules

Instant manifestations

You feel connected to every one & everything

Believing is seeing

You co-create your reality

You believe in the Divine Order of Life & that Everything Happens for the highest Good

WEEK-END EDITION:  PURPOSEFUL AND PEACEFUL PARENTING

NURTURING CHILDREN TO BE SELF-SUFFICIENT

PART I:  CHARACTERISTICS OF SELF-SUFFICIENT CHILDREN

When a child is taught to be self-sufficient, s/he

feels so good about her/him self, because

s/he knows s/he is:

CAPABLE

CREATIVE

SUCCESSFUL

SELF-SUFFICIENT

INDEPENDENT

If one in not nurtured in this way then

they can feel:

INCAPABLE

UNWORTHY

UNCERTAIN

THEY ALWAYS NEED APPROVAL

HESITANT

FEARFUL

UNLOVEABLE

THEY ARE NOT ENOUGH

How can we support children to be self-sufficient?

1.  Acknowledge them for their successes.

2. Acknowledge them for their efforts.

3. Acknowledge them for their creativity.

4. Educate them about how to perform common tasks.

5. Support them in their learning process.

REPEAT!

PART 2: THE FIELD OF INTENTION

The Role the Parent Plays In This Process/ Self-Enquiry

In order for a parent to provide an atmosphere where children can grow into being self-sufficient, the parent needs to have an intention to do so.

Although the intention could be below the surface awareness, it would be best to create such an intention purposefully.  The intention might be as simple as:

I INTEND THAT I NURTURE MY CHILD/REN IN

BEING SELF-SUFFICIENT

If you are not easily able to CREATE such an intention to nurture your  children in being

self-sufficient, you may ask yourself the following questions:

SELF-ENQUIRY QUESTIONS:

1. What is my intention for raising my children in the area of being dependent vs independent?

2. How was I raised?

3. Is it difficult for me to allow the natural imperfection in my home

as children learn to do things in their own way?

4. Why is this type of an intention difficult for me?

Every parent wants the BEST for their children. And all of us have our strengths and gifts.  When we find an area that is more difficult for us to embrace, it's a wonderful opportunity to discover something NEW about our self...and a new way to nurture our growth and the growth of our children.
