The ART of Living Life

THE PARENTING ACADEMY

In this Academy we'll focus on a topic each month. Here are the titles of the monthly themes in the Academy for the first 3 months of 2026.

JANUARY:
"Holding Space" for the Trouble Child, the Defiant
Child and the Quiet Child to be deeply heard!

When children are not able to put into
words their feelings, often they will develop
a way of "acting" to ease their pain. Each
child can do this in their own unique way. These
ways of acting are a call for help. (Although
it might not seem that way!)
Learning to "hold the space" for such a child to
open up to the parent (or teacher) is a practice
that can be developed.
During this month, we'll discuss such behaviors
and ways to cope with them...allowing the child to feel
safe and secure and open up.

FEBRUARY:
Honoring your Child's unique Gifts & Talents!

Each child comes to Planet Earth with a purpose
and skills and talents to fulfill their unique
purpose. Adults don't even often realize their
skills and talents (because they are just who we are)
And yet when they are pointed out to us, we begin
to see ourself in a new way.
This is the same with a child. When a parent
can gently notice strengths in their children,
this empowers a child.
AND it is also a very supportive technique to
counteract inappropriate mannerisms as we
discussed during our January sessions.

MARCH:
Family Together Times: Just for fun!
Sometimes, life can become so busy, that
we forget to take time out for FUN! It is SO important
to have good times together. During this month,
you'll be invited to go on a "Family Date"
each week, to strengthen this practice.
Especially when challenges are going on within
the family unit, taking time out for FUN...
brings about
COMMUNICATION
CONNECTION
CONVERSATIONS
In a relaxed setting, it is easier for children and teens
to open up and share their feelings more easily.
NOTE:
Although we have a focus for each month, there
is always time for you to bring up
questions or concerns at each session.

THE ART OF LISTENING TO CHILDREN

Listening to a child in your life is one of the most
important things
you can do as a caring adult in the life
of a child!
LISTENING, truly listening to a child, send them
a powerful message! A message that says:

YOU CARE!

YOU ARE HERE FOR THEM!

THEY MATTER!

THEIR WORDS MATTER!

THEIR FEELINGS MATTER!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT SHARON:

Parenting Class:

Sharon has a wonderful way of mixing her presentation to include discussion, sharing, individual exercises and lecture which keeps the class upbeat, personal, educational and interesting.
As a parent with experience as a parent educator it has been valuable
to re-visit known concepts, to learn new perspectives, and to take
the time to re-focus on my own parenting.
Sharon's gentle voice and accepting manner keep all the members
of the class comfortable sharing personal issues and eager to ask questions.

is a beautiful kind soul and an effective, nurturing, creatively aware teacher for my daughter Angelina!! I highly recommend her piano teaching and art classes because my daughter has been growing and expanding in her heart, mind and skills from both.
Sharon is patient, kind, loving and creates a very nurturing environment that is palpable whether in person or during online lessons. My daughter looks forward to all her moments with Sharon.
