When I was living in a new city a few years back, I found that I didn't have a lot of connection to other people on a personal level. I was working, both in person and online, but I hadn't established many personal friends, and I felt the need for this.
So, I began going out more into town and connecting that way. It was a delight to meet someone in town that I knew from my work. I also began to meet people while shopping at the grocery store or in the hardware store. Simple conversation with people became a way of me connecting with others at that time.
We are "social" beings and need C O N N E C T I O N! Shortly, thereafter, I posted an advertisement locally to sell some things and a lady came to look at my offerings. It was like we had known each other for ages. This shifted things for me in a big way. Both of us enjoyed the outdoors and the natural world. We started spending time together off and on. Just one such friend made such a difference. And now, even though I've moved away, I have a standing invitation to visit when I return.
Recently, I was looking through my address book and came across some friends that I hadn't talked to in some time. So, one day I called a couple. It was fun to re-connect with them.
And if you are raising a family at this time, coming together just for FUN, is a great way to connect. Life can be so busy, that it's important to take time out to do something together, in a relaxed atmosphere.
I invite you to ponder the C O N N E C T I O N you have with others. Do you feel it might be nice to have some new connections? If so, just holding such a desire, and sitting with it for 3 minutes, in silence, may bring about a way for YOU to make that happen in your world.
