When you think about the HOLIDAYS, do they bring up happy emotions for you? Or do they bring up memories of sad times? For different people, different emotions arise around the holidays.
Many people look forward to the holidays...visiting family and friends, get-togethers, good food, fun times and more. However, for some the opposite happens. The Holidays are times that bring to mind times of sadness. Perhaps they had expectations that were not met in the past, or the memory of happenings around such times, isn't positive.
Tonight, as I was listening to a talk by Master Chunyi Lin, founder of Spring Forest Qigong, I was reminded that when we come to Planet Earth, we actually signed up for the whole "package", the happy times and the not so happy times.
If we can step back, just a little, and look at the larger picture of life, we can see OUR EXPERIENCE TODAY, from a little different perspective. And yet, when we are "IN" life, and have A difficult experience, it is not always that easy to see the larger perspective.
Feelings of sadness, grief, anger, frustration come to all of us, this is part of life. However, the real problem occurs when such feelings stay with us, for hours, days, weeks and even years. When this happens, such feelings have a negative impact on the cells of our body. Our body is alive...and when it experiences prolonged times of sadness, grief, anxiety, etc., the body is affected negatively. For examples, the LUNG ORGAN SYSTEM thrives on FEELINGS OF CONTENTMENT. And prolonged feelings of sadness or grief can deplete it.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were all taught such principles growing up. With such knowledge, we could realize the importance of not sitting in "FIELDS" of negative feelings for long periods of time. Instead, perhaps we could learn to bask in "FIELDS" of positive emotions: HAPPINESS, JOY, PEACE, CONTENTMENT & GRATITUDE.
